Qibla Compass for Pocket PCs (ARM): Review from DownloadAtoZ

A nice compass for directing to Makkah!

Qibla compass is a compass to help you get the direction of Makkah. While the sun rises, you could lift your Pocket PC and let it keep a horizontal state, then make the sun symbol point toward the direction of the sun.

Pros:
  • Contain information about 500 cities
  • Run smoothly
  • Have nice interface
Cons:
  • Be difficult to use
  • Not support Arabic

Highlights:
Before using it, you need to select your home city from the dropdown-list. If your home city is not visible, you can choose a city nearby. While you point your Pocket PC toward the sun correctly, you will see the blue arrow is pointing to Makkah.

System Requirements:
  • Pocket PC with ARM processor or Pocket PC 2002

Conclusion:
Qibla Compass is necessary for you to get qibla. After showing you the direction of Makkah, Qibla Compass will display a yellow circle as the shape of the sun in front of you.

Qibla Compass for Pocket PCs (ARM): Overview from cre@ive-software

QIBLA compass indicates the direction to Mecca from the sun's position.

This program is a compass for Pocket PC that tells you the direction to Mecca (Quibla) of approximately 500 cities worldwide. All you have to do is set your home city by selecting the drop down list. If your city is not available just select one nearby

After experiencing the geographic position (longitude and latitude) and the timezone (difference to GMT Standard), the program calculates the direction of the sun and displays a yellow circle (symbol of the sun) on the display

Important information

Because in the meantime many (many, many, many people asked me what was the meaning of time in the upper right corner of the Compass QIBLA is, I want to explain in general terms and therefore understandable that I am able to

Time, which is valid in your time zone is actually valid only at a given longitude. If you live in Germany - like me - you've encountered (GMT + 1 h). Regarding the sun, however, it is only right when you live on the 15 degree (longitude) east. If you live in Austin, Texas GMT - 6 h is just the right time when you live in the west of 90th degree

At 12:00 (noon) the sun is exactly vertically on this exact longitude which corresponds to your time zone. If you, like me, live in Munich (Bavaria), which is on the 11th degree east, the sun stands vertically only a little later. It must overcome 4 longitude degrees (from 15 to 11), which lasts an hour 4 / 15 (= 16 minutes - the sun makes 360 degrees per day therefore 15 degrees per hour

Thus, in the COmass QIBLA time in the top right is the real place for you. If it is 12:00, the sun stands vertically above you

I hope the explanation is so plausible. Since my mother tongue is not English, I wanted to ask all those who can explain in a clearer way to send me the explanation and I will forward / post it

The COmass QIBLA is freeware, so unfortunately I can not do intensive support. Hope that you understand

Kindest regards from Bavaria

Ingo Boehme
